I had the honor of serving on the World Health Week Committee last week with the amazing Dr. Hiba! We had so much fun together, and it got me thinking a lot about what we consume on a daily basis and how we can better take care of our bodies.

Making peace with food and our bodies is more about what we say “yes” to, rather than all the “no’s” or “I can’t have that’s”. It’s a process that calls for intentional mind, body and soul care practices. Process has nothing to do with perfection – process is an attempt to manage stressors in life with greater ease, acknowledge discomfort and make decisions to do something different in a moment. Total balance is impossible to sustain, yet being in the pursuit of balancing all of the pulls, purposes and passions within our lives can propel us towards sound minds, healthy bodies and spirit filled lifestyles.

As part of my HMBSC [HEARTMINDBODYSOULCARE] series, here is some scripture and an acronym of encouragement to keep you motivated as you call attention to your Body Care!

Monitoring your P.U.L.S.E. R.A.T.E.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (King James Version)
What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.

Daniel 1:12 (King James Version)
Prove thy servants, I beseech thee, ten days; and let them give us pulse to eat, and water to drink.

You can enhance a healthy P.U.L.S.E. R.A.T.E. by making a commitment to:
Protein at every meal
Unleavened whole grain bread (i.e. rice cakes, whole grain crackers, or oat bran loaf)
Live foods at every meal (eat raw or do not overcook)
Sugar-free or naturally sweetened (i.e. natural fruits, stevia or xylitol)
Eat intuitively (eat when you are hungry, stop when you are full)
Real Water to Drink (hydrate with proper PH balance and maximum antioxidants)
Affirmations (scriptures written down and spoken daily)
Tell your healing stories (encourage yourself and others with praise reports)
Esteem others (speak peace, hope, love, grace and wisdom into the lives of people around you)

Also, International No Diet Day is coming up on May 6, 2013! International No Diet Day is a perfect opportunity to promote healthy eating habits, mindful/intuitive eating, and deconstruct the diet mentality for our highest good! There are some wonderful resources for a non-dieting approach to a healthy weight and lifestyle here on their FB page!
